About the Jewelry
Bohemia, an area in the Czech Republic has been a glass making superpower for many years. In 1550 the glass industry had began and by 1600 there were several Glass producing areas in Czech. With the land rich in quartz and thick forest to melt it, the Northern Bohemia area began making glassware and stones. Glass beads were more secondary at this time. However, during the end of the Victorian Era in a town now called Jablonec nad Nisou, Austrian jeweler Daniel Swarovski created the first cut-glass crystals to look like precious stones. Other Bohemia jewelers jumped on board and the look became very popular in the 20th century. Not to mention this changed the glass making industry because of its pristine clarity and clear glass, or crystal, appearance. Czech glass making became known around the world. Hollywood became famous for using this for their starlets because of the clarity and shine of the glass and the elaborate designs of the Czech jewelers. To this day, this remains the Bohemia region's biggest contribution to jewelry.
